We take time determining the square root of a number . Here is a trick which can reduce our time. Let's talk about the square root of numbers near  100. For example, take 96.

Step 1. Compare yhe number 10th 100 i.e 96 - 100 =-4
Step 2. If the difference is +ve add it to the number. 
If it is -ve, substract if from the number i.e. 96- 4= 92
Step 3. Add two zeroes to the resulting number i.e 9200
Step 4.Add the square of the difference to the result, i.e 9200 +(-4) square = 9216

And you get the Answer.

Subtracting a large number from 1000 often takes a lot of times. So why not to learn a rule that would make the calculation easy and quick.

If you have a three digit number to subtract from 1000, then you have to just subtract first two digits from 9 d last digit from 10.


Example: 1000 - 648
Subtract 6 from 9 = 3
Subtract 4 from 9 = 5 
Subtract 8 from 10 = 2 

The answer is 352.
