Q1.What are the proposed eligibility criteria for AIPMT 2014?
Ans.The candidate must have completed the age of 17 years as on December 31, 2014 for admission to 1st year MBBS?
BDS course and he/she must be an Indian national.
The upper age limit for AIPMT-2014 is, 25 years as on 31st December and this upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 years for SC/ST/OBC category.
Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Foreign Nationals are eligible for AIPMT subject to rules & regulations framed by the respective Sate Governments and Govt. of India.
50% marks for General category, 45% marks for Gen-PH and 40% marks for SC/ST/OBC or SC/ST/OBC-PH category students obtained in Physics,Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together in qualifying examinations.
Students must pass Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology (including practical test) or any other elective subject with English.
Qualifying criterion has been changed from 50% of absolute marks in AIPMT to 50th percentile for GC, 45th percentile for GC-PH, 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC students in AIPMT to ensure that no seat remains unfilled.
The percentile shall be determined on the basis of highest marks secured in All India common merit list in AIPMT for admission to MBBS course.No state eligibility criteria will be applicable the students who take admission under 15% All India Quota Scheme.
Q2. What are the career options after MBBS?
Ans.You can opt for MD/MS in specialisations like medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, Paediatrics and Radiology. First and foremost, you need to gauge your interests.
Q3.What are the career options if a student pursues MBBS from a private college?
Ans.A PG degree like MD/MS is mandatory for better job prospects, even if a student pursues MBBS from a private college. The facilities for practise provided by a private college like a large OPD base are advantageous. Also, you need to check the time duration for which the courses are being undertaken in the college. The more the number of years, the better will be the job prospects. There are equal opportunities for a student whether one pursues MBBS from a Private or Govt college if one has studied honestly.

Q11.What is the proposed merit list & rank for AIPMT?
Ans.AIPMT shall provide All India as well as State wise merit list of the eligible candidates on the marks obtained in the AIPMT.There will be two rank lists for AIPMT qualified students as
(i) National Rank: A student can use National Rank to take admission in any of the AIPMT affiliated MBBS colleges in India.
(ii) State Rank: A student can use State Rank to take admission in any of the affiliated colleges in the state from here he/she has done class XI & XII or holds a domicile.The AIPMT guidelines require that 85% of the MBBS seats in the medical colleges across the state be reserved under the state quota. The remaining 15% remain open to candidates from other states.
Q12.What is the proposed Reservation Policy for AIPMT?
Ans.Reservation of Seats in Medical Colleges under State Quotas and private Colleges:Admission under 85% state quota seats in Govt. medical colleges shall be subject to reservation policy and eligibility criteria prevailing in the State/Union Territory as notified by the respective State/UT from time to time.Note: Reservation will be made as per 2200 point reservation roster. The mode of implementation of reservation will be available on DGHS website: www.mohfw.nic.in.
All India Quotas: 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates.

Q13.In AIIMS what is the probability for admission of students in the waiting list?
Ans. The probability of such students making the cut is quite low with just 1 or 2 students getting admission in AIIMS.
Q14.Who is eligible to apply for AIIMS?
Ans. The minimum age of applicant should not be less than 17 years and not more than 23 years of age at the time of appearing the exam. He should have passed standard in the first attempt and with a minimum marks of 60% in English and 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together, from any State Higher Secondary Board or equivalent. NRI's and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) who have qualified from foreign universities will have to produce an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Those who will appear for the qualifying examination in March / April 2012 can also apply.

Q17.How to prepare for interview stage for AFMC?
Ans. One needs to be confident and answer only the questions he feels confident about. In these interviews, the questions that are asked, judge the EQ and IQ levels of a student. It is rare that they ask about the subject related topics. It is held after a student qualifies in the AFMC medical exam, which is generally held in the month of June.
Q18.If students are not able to clear the medical entrance exams what are the options open for those student?
Ans. A student can venture into other specialisations such as Biochemistry, Biomedical, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Pharmacist, Nutrition and Dietetics and Speech Therapist. Each of this specialisation promises a good career growth.
Q19.Do we have any entrance exam where there is no negative marking?
Ans.MGIMS-Wardha, CMC-Vellore, Manipal-MAHE and JIPMER-Pudocherry medical exams do not have any negative marking in their entrance tests.
Q20.Is it necessary to submit the fee during counselling for any Medical college?
Ans.No, it is not mandatory to submit the fees on the same day as counselling as a time of 2-3 days is given for fee submission. However, a student needs to make a selection for a college on the same day itself.
